    Butler Lake Provincial Park

    Reserve is accessible via Wabigoon Lake and measures 3400 ha (8402 acres). Notable characteristics of Butler Lake is the layers of sediments, called varves, that mark a section of the land. There are no visitors facilities in the park.

    Blue Lake Provincial Park is located just northwest of Dryden. Visitors enjoy the sandy beaches, hiking trails, canoeing, fishing and bird watching. A campground is also located at the park.

    Rushing River Provincial Park

    Examine of the grooves and scratches in some of the rocks in this park to uncover evidence of the movement of glacial ice. Situated east of Kenora, Rushing River offer canoe routes, camping facilities and wildlife viewing opportunities. During May to September, contact number is:(807) 548-4351.     Sioux Narrows Provincial Park

    The park is located on one of the thousands of Lake of the Woods islands. Rock paintings can be viewed and a plethora of history uncovered. The park is south west of Kenora by Sioux Narrows.

    Sandbar Lake Provincial Park

    Within the park boundaries there are still reminders of when the region was covered with ice. Optional activities in the park include camping, hiking and fishing. The water of Sandbar Lake is clean and shallow, making it ideal for younger children.

    Caliper Lake Provincial Park

    This smaller park is located south of Kenora near Nestor Falls. There is a campground with 83 sites and a playground with the park. A great place for family swimming, Caliper Lake also features canoeing, hiking and wildlife viewing. In the off season, contact (807) 468-2669.

    Cranberry Lake Nature Reserve covers an area of 2800 ha (6919 acres). Notable features of the area include bogs, swamps and peatlands.

    This nature reserve measures 6572 ha (16,240 acres) and is located northeast of Dryden. It is composed of peat plains and sedimentary sand plains. Underneath these sands is Precambrian bedrock.

    Aaron Provincial Park

    Situated a short ways west of Dryden, Aaron Provincial Park is brimming with family fun potential. Swim, boat or fish for trout in Thunder Lake, hike or ski the trails surrounded by white cedar, jack pine and aspen trees. The moose, white-tailed deer and black bears inhabit the forest.     The boreal forests of the park are habitats to a variety of species including moose, deers, black bears, wolves, foxes and more. Glacial features include moraines and deposits of sands and silts.
